To ask the President of the Board of Trade (1) when the details of the contracts for the non-fossil fuel obligations of the regional electricity companies will be announced;

(2) what will be the intended length of contracts under the new contracts for the non-fossil fuel obligations of the regional electricity companies.

Mr. Dafis

To ask the President of the Board of Trade if he will list the companies which have been given moneys under the non-fossil fuel obligation for the generation of energy through waste incineration in each year since 1990 indicating(a) the name of the company, (b) the location of the incinerators, (c) the amount of money awarded for each project and (d) the amount of electricity in megawatts generated by each project.

Mr. Eggar

(a) and (b): The names, locations and capacities of waste incineration projects which received contracts under the 1990 and 1991 non-fossil fuel obligation renewables orders are as follows:

Mr. Eggar

I refer the hon. Member to the document which I placed in the Libraries of both Houses giving details of the proposed arrangements of the third renewables order under the non-fossil fuel obligation, to which I referred in my reply of 21 July to the hon. Member for Cambridgeshire, North-East (Mr. Moss)Official Report, column 339. My intention is that the third order will run for 15 to 20 years as from November 1994, which will allow the public electricity suppliers to offer generators contracts for a similar period.
