asked Her Majesty's Government:

How many persons in the most recent year for which figures are available were (a) removed to a place of safety under Section 136 of the Mental Health Act 1983; (b) remanded to hospital under Section 35 of the same Act; (c) remanded to hospital for treatment under Section 36 of the same Act; and (d) transferred from prison to hospital under Section 48 of the same Act.

Information on admissions under sections of the Mental Health Act 1983 is given in the table. Data refer to admissions not persons as a person could be admitted more than once during the year.
