HC Deb 26 July 1993 vol 229 cc749-50W
Mr. Redmond

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what are the current requirements for operational low flying by Royal Navy Sea Harrier aircraft.

Mr. Hanley

The Sea Harrier is required to conduct low level operational flying as part of its air to ground role. The aircrew have to train regularly at low level over land to maintain this expertise.

Mr. Cohen

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence if he will give a breakdown, for each type of Royal Navy aircraft, of the number of(a) hours and (b) sorties flown at low level in each year since 1979.

Mr. Hanley

Records are not held centrally in the form requested, so the information could be provided only at disproportionate cost.
