To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will publish rates of re-admission to hospital following discharge.

[holding answer 23 July 1993]: As I indicated in reply to the hon. Member's question on outcome measurements on 14 July 1993 at column 519, pilot outcome measures including 28-day emergency re-admission rate after discharge from medical specialties were included in the discussion document "Clinical Outcome Measures" issued on 7 July 1993, a copy of which has been placed in the House of Commons Library.
