HL Deb 26 July 1993 vol 548 c87WA
Lord Kennet

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether the construction deregulation task force is to meet the Prime Minister to seek the abolition of the building regulations.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Department of the Environment (Lord Strathclyde)

My right honourable friend the Prime Minister met the chairmen of the deregulation task forces on 20th July, including Mr. Spackman, chairman of the one covering the construction industry. Members of the task forces were chosen because they know at first hand the burdens which regulations place on the economy and are best placed to advise on reducing them.
