Chartered accountants
According to information from the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, 33,973 UK nationals were admitted to membership in the period 1st January 1983 to 1st January 1993. Comparable information about admissions to the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ireland is not available.
Engineers
During the academic years ended 1983–1991, 71,330 first degree UK-domiciled students graduated in engineering from UK universities. Comparable figures for the academic year ended 1992 are not yet available. The numbers of graduates classified by branch are shown below.
