To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if she will make a statement outlining the implications for producers within the United Kingdom of European Commission proposals on member state aid to potato producers.

The European Commission's proposals for a common organisation of the market in potatoes would end national support arrangements. If adopted in their present form, this would mean the end of the planting controls and intervention buying arrangements which form part of the Potato Marketing Scheme.
