HC Deb 21 July 1993 vol 229 c265W
16. Mr. Corbyn

To ask the President of the Board of Trade what action he is taking to restrict the import of goods produced by child labour.

Mr. McLoughlin

None. Open international trade is more likely to put an end to child labour by strengthening the economies of the countries concerned. There would, in any case, be severe practical difficulties in identifying goods which had been produced with child labour.
