§ Sir Hector Monro[holding answer 19 July 1993]: The environmental code to which the hon. Member refers was drawn up specifically for the Forestry Commission's enterprise arm. Woodland owners who accept grants under the woodland grant scheme are required to follow the environmental guidelines published by the Forestry Commission, which include most of the points in the environmental code. Private woodland owners generally are also encouraged to follow the forestry and woodland code published by Timbers Growers United Kingdom.
