§ Mr. BoswellInformation on the number of closures of adult education establishments in England is not collected by the Department. Information on Wales is a matter for my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Wales.
107WThe duty to secure the provision of adequate facilities for the further education of adults is clearly set out in the Further and Higher Education Act 1992. That duty is divided between the Further Education Funding Council and local education authorities. The Government have ensured that both the council and LEAs have sufficient resources to carry out their duties.

§ Mr. BoswellIn 1991–92 and 1992–93 there were, respectively, 1, 682 and 1, 562 adult education establishments maintained by local education authorities in England and recorded on annual returns to the Department. Figures for 1993–94 are not yet available. Information on Wales is a matter for my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Wales.
