§ Mr. FoulkesTo ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will list the organisations and individuals who, during the consultation on reorganisation of local government in 45W Scotland, made representations in favour of (a) an all-Ayrshire council, (b) retaining Kyle and Carrick as a council and (c) combining Cunninghame, Kilmarnock and Loudon and Cumnock and Doon Valley as one council.
§ Mr. Stewart[holding answer 15 July 1993]: A total of 56 individuals and organisations commented upon the proposed structure of local government in Ayrshire. Of these, 28 supported an all-Ayrshire council which was included as a unit in both the 15 and 24 unit illustrative structures shown in the consultation paper "Shaping the New Councils". Nine responses supported a council based upon the existing area of Kyle and Carrick district council, which was included as a unit in the 51-unit illustrative structure. A unit comprising Cunninghame, Kilmarnock and Loudon and Cumnock and Doon Valley was not included in the consultation paper and no comments were offered on this option.
