asked Her Majesty's Government:
Whether the proceeds from the sale at Sotheby's on 16th July 1993 of marine pictures and nautical works of art owned by the National Maritime Museum, Greenwich, will be kept within the museum's fund for the purchase of exhibits, which 30WA is financed from Exchequer grant-in-aid, and will not be placed within the accounts of the museum's exempt charities.

The net proceeds from the sale at Sotheby's will go to the separately maintained Collections Purchases Fund of the Museum, which is specifically designated for the acquisition of historic collections.
