The School Teachers' Pay and Conditions Document lays down a minimum point on the scale to which teachers may be appointed, depending on their previous service. An experienced supply teacher could be appointed on the minimum point applicable or on any higher point up to the top of the scale. A new pay spine for teachers will be introduced with effect from 1 September 1993.
