§ Mr. HanleyThe Ministry of Defence provides a comprehensive training and resettlement service for all service leavers, including redundees. This is designed primarily to assist in the move to a second career, and includes advice on the job market and the skills required. Many service leavers not only possess a wide range of skills but will also have several years experience as instructors, trainers and teachers. In addition to the wider marketing of their potential through the "Access to Excellence" campaign, a number of specific initiatives are being pursued in conjunction with the Departments of Employment and Education to promote their value as instructors and trainers for employment opportunities through the training and enterprise councils and within the new general national vocational qualification scheme.
