§ Mr. Heathcoat-AmoryWe have played a leading role in focusing the Community's attention on the need to improve competitiveness in order to promote economic recovery and secure a greater share of world trade. We will be contributing fully to the Commission's White Paper on this subject. At the same time, we are giving our full support to the Commission's efforts to negotiate a balanced and comprehensive outcome to the Uruguay round which will benefit the United Kingdom, the EC and the world economy generally.
