HL Deb 14 July 1993 vol 548 c22WA
Lord Gallacher

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they are satisfied that the Food Advisory Committee and the Consumer Panel are not at present in danger of duplicating the work of each other.

The Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (Earl Howe)

We are satisfied that there is no duplication of work between the Food Advisory Committee and the Consumer Panel. The former advises Ministers on the exercise of powers in the Food Safety Act 1990 relating to labelling, composition and chemical safety of food, while the latter advises on consumer concerns on a broad range of food issues.
