§ Sir Ivan LawrenceTo ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department when he will publish his plans to reform Sunday trading law in England and Wales.
§ Mr. Howard[pursuant to his reply, 8 July 1993 c. 207]: I have placed in the Library a copy of a draft Bill together with a covering text explaining the models for reform. I hope this will provide hon. Members with an opportunity to consider carefully the options for reform well in advance of being required to choose between them. We aim to introduce the Bill early next Session.
§ Mr. Gareth WardellTo ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many prosecutions have taken place on breaches of the Sunday trading laws over the last 12-month period for which figures are available.
§ Mr. Peter Lloyd[pursuant to his reply, 24 June 1993, c. 253]: The number of prosecutions brought in 1991 was in fact 388, not 522 as I previously stated, of which 86 were brought to successful conclusions. I apologise for any difficulty which this mistake may have caused.
