To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will make a statement on trends in manufacturing productivity over the past year.

Manufacturing productivity in the three months to April was 7.8 per cent. higher than a year earlier. Apart from the three months to March, this was the highest growth rate for over six years.
