HL Deb 09 July 1993 vol 547 c80WA
Lord Harris of Greenwich

asked Her Majesty's Government:

On what date performance related pay was introduced into the Civil Service.

The Minister of State, Department of Transport (The Earl of Caithness)

Although elements of performance related pay have been a feature of civil service pay arrangements for some time, comprehen-sive performance related schemes were first introduced in 1991 for Grades 2 and 3, and 1992 for Grades 5 to 7, and are currently being introduced in the rest of the Civil Service. The Top Salaries Review Body will evaluate the operation of the Grades 2 to 3 scheme as part of its 1994 review.
