HC Deb 08 July 1993 vol 228 cc273-4W
22. Mr. Hinchliffe

To ask the Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what research has been undertaken into the methods of controlling foxes.

Mr. Soames

The ministry is not currently undertaking any research on the control of foxes to prevent damage to agriculture.

Research on foxes has been directed at methods of control to be used should an outbreak of rabies occur in the United Kingdom. This work has concentrated on developing a method of controlling foxes by poison baits whilst minimising the risks to other wildlife and to domestic animals.
