HC Deb 06 July 1993 vol 228 c97W
Mr. Coe

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what official development assistance was provided by the United Kingdom in 1992 as a percentage of gross national product.

Mr. Lennox-Boyd

United Kingdom's official development assistance in 1992 amounted to 0.31 per cent. of GNP. This more than maintains Britain's average performance over recent years of 0.30 per cent.

The ratio includes Britain's official development assistance to developing countries. It does not include assistance to countries in eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union, which are not included on the Development Assistance Committee list of developing countries, or contributions to the global environment facility and the Montreal protocol multilateral fund.
