Friend is aware the terms of reference of the Sheehy inquiry did not extend to non-Home Department forces, but we nevertheless await the Home Secretary's response with interest. In the meantime we will study the report carefully and consider its recommendations in the context of the British transport police. I look forward to a further meeting in due course with my hon. Friend and representatives of the British Transport Police Federation to discuss this matter.
