§ Mr. McLoughlinThose public sector occupational pensions administered by the Paymaster General's Office —that is, the national health service, England and Wales; national health service, Scotland and the principal civil service pension scheme—had this facility withdrawn on 1 April 1993. Fifty-nine thousand pensioners were affected.
However, special arrangements were made to open a Girobank account for those pensioners who wished to continued to draw their pension at a post office.
