§ Mr. AncramThe Mental Health Act 1983 does not apply in Northern Ireland. The equivalent legislation is the Mental Health (Northern Ireland) Order 1986 of which article 4 applies to admissions to hospital for assessment. The number of admissions from 1986 are as follows:
