Whether, in the event of KONVER funds being allocated on the basis of the existing Structural Fund Regulations, they will give priority to those areas, such as Barrow-in-Furness, which are outside Objective 2 Areas in the disbursement of European Social Fund money under Objectives 3 and 4.
43WAThe Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Department of Employment (Viscount Ullswater): Under the existing European Community regulations, European Social Fund grants under the KONVER initiative can be made available under Objectives 3 and 4 throughout the United Kingdom. Details of how these funds should be applied are currently being considered and will be made available before the end of July.
