asked Her Majesty's Government:

How many appeals by dispensing doctors against applications by pharmacists to dispense under the Clothier Regulations have succeeded before:

  1. (i) Family Health Service Authorities and
  2. WA100
  3. (ii) the Appeal Units; and

How many appeals by pharmacists against applications by doctors to dispense under the Clothier Regulations have succeeded before:

  1. (i) Family Health Service Authorities and
  2. (ii) the Appeal Units.

Information about family health service authority decisions on dispensing applications is not held centrally and could be obtained only at disproportionate cost. There have been 15 successful appeals by dispensing doctors against applications by pharmacists to dispense in rural areas since 1984 and 14 successful appeals by pharmacists against applications by dispensing doctors in the same period.
