asked Her Majesty's Government:

What level of contribution was required from the developers when they agreed that the Jubilee Line Extension Bill should proceed; whether this remains their position and if not why.

Under the Schedule of Terms agreed with the Government in 1989, Olympia and York were required to make a cash contribution of £400 million over time to the Jubilee Line extension. The Secretary of State for Transport has made it clear that he sees no prospect of authorising that start of construction until that contribution is assured. Negotiations are continuing on an agreement with the administrators of Olympia and York Canary Wharf on the terms on which they are to make that contribution.
