Mr. Ron Davies

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will list the number and proportion of farmers in Scotland who receive hill livestock compensatory allowance payments.

Sir Hector Monro

[holding answer 18 January 1993]: Under the 1992 HLCA scheme a total of 17,706 producers received payments. That represents 85 per cent. of occupiers of main holdings in Scotland from the June 1992 agricultural census.
