§ Mr. HansonTo ask the Secretary of State for Wales what plans he has, for each health authority in Wales for 1993–94, for the number of(a) mental handicap nurses staying in their current roles, (b) mental handicap nurses transferring to general or psychiatric nursing and (c) mental handicap nurses leaving the profession.
§ Mr. Gwilym JonesResponsibility for identifying future needs for mental handicap nurses within the NHS rests with employing authorities and trusts. This should be done through the workforce planning system in conjunction with the county joint planning teams set up under the auspices of the mental handicap strategy.
