HC Deb 21 January 1993 vol 217 c386W
Mr. Conway

To ask the Secretary of State for Health what records are centrally held on laparoscopic surgery which has not been properly executed.

Mr. Sackville

Data are not collected centrally. We have, however, allocated £42 million to the hospital and community health services this year for medical audit and this is being used to improve and assure high standards of patient care. Some of this money is being used to support the Royal College of Surgeon's confidential comparative audit services which includes a study of laparoscopic cholecystectomy.
