HC Deb 21 January 1993 vol 217 cc382-3W
Mr. Frank Field

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security what information his Department has on the duration of the different client groups drawing of supplementary benefit/income support beyond that published in "Social Security Statistics 1992".

Mr. Burt

"Social Security Statistics 1992"—SSS 1992 —is based upon data from the May 1991 income support annual statistical enquiry—ASE—which is the most recent information available. Series 12 of the tables within the 1991 ASE give a more detailed analysis of durations of claims than that contained in SSS 1992. Copies of both publications are in the Library.

Mr. Frank Field

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security how many claimants and dependants dependent on supplementary benefit/income support there were in each year since 1989; and if he will break down this total of each of the main client groups and express these figures as a percentage of the total.

1. Mr. Burt

The information requested is in the table.

1989 000s Per cent. 1990 000s Per cent. 1991 000s Per cent.
