To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what proportion of the increase in incomes since 1979 has gone to the top 1 per cent., 5 per cent., 10 per cent. and 20 per cent. of the population; and what are the comparable figures for the USA, Japan, Germany and France.

However, information for the United Kingdom on changes in income shares and real incomes was contained in replies my hon. Friend the Member for Bury, North (Mr. Burt), the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Social Security gave to the hon. Member for Bradford, West (Mr. Madden) on 2 December 1992 at column 100 and the hon. Member for Peckham (Ms. Harman) on 7 December at column 506.
