HC Deb 21 January 1993 vol 217 cc410-1W
Mr. Kirkwood

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will list houses and house types situated in the Burnfoot housing scheme in Hawick supplied to his Department by Roxburgh district council in March 1984 which had been identified by the local authority as being eligible for assistance under the Housing Defects Act 1984.

Lord James Douglas-Hamilton

[holding answer 18 January 1993]: In 1983 district and islands councils were asked by the Scottish Office to give details of the number of houses in their ownership belonging to types later designated as defective. They were not asked for the location of such houses within their districts. Roxburgh district council said that it owned 21 houses of the single-storey Orlit type, 50 Whitson-Fairhursts and 119 Crudens.

The owners of such houses would be eligible for assistance under the housing defects legislation only if they were bought before 26 April 1984 or, in certain circumstances, in the 12 months thereafter.
