HC Deb 20 January 1993 vol 217 c304W
Dr. David Clark

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence how many Royal Air Force personnel have applied for voluntary redundancy in each year since 1990; what plans he has to make further offers of voluntary redundancy; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Archie Hamilton

No Royal Air Force personnel applied for voluntary redundancy in either 1990 or 1991. Under the first phase of the current redundancy scheme, some 1,100 applications have been received for the 960 or so redundancy places available up to April 1994.

The extent of the second phase of the redundancy scheme, which is scheduled to take place in FY 94/95, is subject to review in the light of forecast requirements and outflow trends. Details will be finalised and announced in due course.
