HC Deb 19 January 1993 vol 217 c193W
Mr. Barry Jones

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what measures his Roads Department has taken and will take to minimise disturbance to badgers and other wildlife; and if he will make a statement.

Sir Wyn Roberts

The provision of badger-proof fencing, badger crossings and gates, together with the relocation of setts are among steps that are, or may be, taken, depending on the particular circumstances. Mitigating measures for other wildlife are subject to the species involved.

The Department's highways directorate recognises the need to mitigate and minimise the effects of road construction on wildlife and will continue to pursue that objective.
