§ Mr. Douglas HoggWe have made representations on a number of occasions to the Iranian authorities about the persecution of Baha'is in Iran, both bilaterally and together with our EC partners. We made representations in Tehran on 25 October, on behalf of all EC member states, about death sentences passed on two Baha'is following summary trials and the reports of 24 cases of confiscations of the homes and property of Baha'is. We and our EC partners co-sponsored an UNGA resolution reflecting international concern at the human rights situation in Iran. It was adopted on 18 December by a large majority. It specifically referred to the treatment of the Baha'i community.
