§ Sir Wyn RobertsIn February last year I launched a debate on classroom organisation and teaching methods in primary schools in Wales. Following extensive consultations with teachers in Wales, the Curriculum Council for Wales issued guidance to primary schools on these issues in November. Good classroom practice is a matter for teachers, headteachers and schools and will continue to be subject to inspection either by Her Majesty's inspectors of schools or by inspectors registered by the office of Her Majesty's chief inspectors of schools from September 1993. The criteria for the approval of courses of initial teacher training require that students should be trained in the effective management of groups of pupils.
