HL Deb 18 January 1993 vol 541 cc61-2WA
Viscount Brentford

asked Her Majesty's Government:

How many Sunday Trading Enforcement proceedings under the 1950 Shops Act and the 1972 Local Government Act currently stand adjourned in the Magistrates' Courts, the Crown Courts, the Court of Appeal and the House of Lords respectively.

The Lord Chancellor

One such case has been referred to the European Court of Justice from each of the House of Lords, the High Court and a magistrates' court. In addition, 13 cases stand adjourned in the Divisional Court pending the judgment of the European Court. Figures for magistrates' courts and the Crown Court are not otherwise collected and could only be obtained at disproportionate cost.
