HL Deb 18 January 1993 vol 541 c65WA
Earl Russell

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they have any information on the proportion of students in higher education taking paid employment during full term, whether they regard this practice as consistent with the present three-year degree course, and what representations they have received about the damage to the British degree resulting from students taking paid employment during full term.

Baroness Blatch

The information requested is not available. Students in higher education are free to take up employment during full term if they wish to do so. It is for them to ensure this does not interfere with their studies. No representations have been received about the damage to the British degree resulting from students taking employment during full term.
