HC Deb 18 January 1993 vol 217 c49W
Mr. McNamara

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence how many of the soldiers involved in the incident leading to the death of Seamus McElwaine are still serving in the Army; whether any of these soldiers are still serving in Northern Ireland or have served there since the incident; and what disciplinary procedures the Army intends to initiate following the verdict of the jury.

Mr. Archie Hamilton

It is not our practice to comment on the deployment of individual soldiers. The Director of Public Prosecution for Northern Ireland has asked for a full report from the police in the light of the inquest jury's finding. It would therefore be inappropriate for me to comment further.
