HL Deb 18 January 1993 vol 541 c73WA
Lord Trefgarne

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they have recently received, or expect shortly to receive, any proposals from the European Commission with regard to the control of noxious emissions from power stations.

Lord Strathclyde

A draft directive is expected shortly proposing sulphur dioxide emission limit values for new solid fuel-burning plants, of 50–100 MW thermal capacity, to fill a gap in the Large Combustion Plants Directive (88/609/EEC). We are also aware that the Commission is considering putting forward a proposal for a draft directive to limit emissions of pollutants into the air from stationary gas turbines. Both of these possible proposals could have implications for power station emissions.
