asked Her Majesty's Government:
What information they have on the present conditions of detention and whereabouts of John Fru Ndi, the opposition candidate in the recent election in the Cameroon Republic.

§ Baroness Chalker of Wallasey
The Cameroon Government announced the lifting of the State of Emergency in North West Province on 29th December. I understand that Mr. Fru Ndi was released from house arrest on that day and that he is now free to move around as he wishes.
