HC Deb 18 January 1993 vol 217 c42W
Mr. William Ross

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many recommendations have been made by the Standing Advisory Committee on Human Rights since it was set up; and how many of these have been accepted by Government and implemented.

Sir Patrick Mayhew

The Commission has made many valuable recommendations, for example on fair employment, education, race relations and other human rights issues, which the Government have been pleased to accept. To identify all the recommendations made by the Commission and accepted by the Government since it was created in 1973 could be done only at disproportionate cost. But all the Commission's reports are published, and the Government's response to each report is laid in the Library of the House at the same time.
