HC Deb 18 January 1993 vol 217 c104W
Mr. Bayley

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security (1) how many claimants in(a) North Yorkshire and (b) England had a benefit withdrawn because they were thought to be living together with another person in each quarter for the last two years; and what proportion of these claimants subsequently had their benefit reinstated;

(2) how many York claimants had a benefit withdrawn (a) by the York Benefits Agency office and (b) by the agency's area fraud office because they were thought to be living together with another person in each quarter for the last two years; and what proportion of these claimants subsequently had their benefit reinstated.

Miss Widdecombe

I understand from Mr. Michael Bichard, the chief executive of the Benefits Agency that the information is not available and could be obtained only at a disproportionate cost.
