HC Deb 18 January 1993 vol 217 cc39-40W
Mr. Battle

To ask the Secretary of State for Natonal Heritage if he will make a statement on the plans of the British Library with regard to its buildings and services in Yorkshire.

Mr. Key

The British Library's policy is to provide a service to users from its sites in London and Boston Spa, Yorkshire. The document supply centre will continue to operate from Boston Spa. In addition, during the last two years, the Library has relocated to Yorkshire its acquisition processing and cataloguing, its bibliographic services, computing and telecommunications and a substantial part of its administration.

The British Library Board will continue to review the needs of its users, including long-term requirements.
