HC Deb 15 January 1993 vol 216 c853W
Mr. Canavan

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement on progress towards establishing the membership of the EC Committee of the Regions(a) in the United Kingdom and (b) in other member states of the EC.

Mr. Garel-Jones

The Government are still considering the nomination of the 24 United Kingdom members of the committee (and 23 alternates) and how the seats should be allocated between the different parts of the United Kingdom. No decisions have yet been taken.

The position is broadly similar in most other member states. Only Greece has so far announced their candidates.
