§ Mr. SoamesRegulations introducing limits on nuts, dried figs and their products were laid before Parliament on 18 December 1992 and came into effect on 31 December 1992. The regulations, which are based on advice from the Food Advisory Committee, replace the general controls operated under the Food Safety Act. The main provisions of the regulations are: a statutory limit of 4µg/kg total aflatoxins in supplies for sale for human consumption; a statutory limit of 10µg/kg total aflatoxins in produce imported from third countries for further processing before human consumption.
