HC Deb 11 January 1993 vol 216 c611W
Mr. Blunkett

To ask the Secretary of State for Health if she will list the regulations which apply specifically to the work of chiropodists, dieticians, medical laboratory scientific officers, occupational therapists, orthoptists, physiotherapists and radiographers; and what plans she has to review them.

Dr. Mawhinney

State registered practitioners are subject to the provisions of the Professions Supplementary to Medicine Act 1960. State registration is a requirement for direct employment in these capacities in the national health service and local authority social services departments, by virtue of directions given under the National Health Service and Community Care Act 1990 and the Local Authority Social Services Act 1970. We have at present no plans to review these arrangements.
