§ Ms. ShortTo ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will publish the findings of the recent Treasury review of the Joint Nature Conservation Committee; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. MacleanThe review of the committee's staff support unit was commissioned by English Nature, the Countryside Council for Wales, and Scottish National Heritage. The report's findings are available to all the staff concerned, but it is an internal management document and the councils have no plans to publish it more widely.
§ Ms. ShortTo ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will list those conservations projects, programmes or contracts which were due to be carried out by the Joint Nature Conservation Committee in 1992–93 or 1993–94 which will no longer be carried out by the committee.
§ Mr. MacleanThese are matters for the committee and I have asked the chairman to write to the hon. Member in respect of the 1992–93 work programme. The committee will decide its programme for 1993–94 when its budget for that year has been determined.
