HC Deb 11 January 1993 vol 216 c617W
Mr. Jonathan Evans

To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what is his Department's assessment of the impact of sterling devaluation on farm incomes in 1992 in each sector of agriculture.

Mr. Curry

It is not possible yet to estimate the impact of the recent depreciation in the value of sterling on farm incomes in 1992. However, it is estimated that the fall in the value of sterling and the associated devaluation of the green pound should increase agricultural net product by around £700 million or 14 per cent. in a full year.
